The Jiggers Project

With the assistance of Rotarians in Malindi, the rotaracts in Malindi were in Magarini to confront the jiggers menace. Over 100 patients who could not even walk due to the jiggers benefited immensely from this benevolence.

There are estimated 400 people infested with jiggers in Magarini. Some have dropped out of school due to the jiggers. Some are bed ridden due to the Jiggers.

Jiggers are parasitic fleas that lodge in susceptible individuals skin and rapidly multiply as they affect other body parts. Causing itchy sores as they burrow into tissues-eating up surrounding tissues. Severe cases loose fingers and toes.This predisposes to severe skin infections and sometimes death if not treated.


You can support this ongoing projects by contributing through the Rotary club of Malindi. It costs about 25 USD to treat one jigger patient fully.

The Munyonyo Conference

Malindi rotarians are so excited about the 86th conference in Munyonyo this month.

The Marathon

The Rotary club of Malindi is organising for a Marathon this August in aid of Polio plus and Education of bright and needy students in Malindi.

Registration for all races will be kshs1,000/-

Categories will be:
full marathon
Half Marathon
The 10km road race
The 5 Km road race.

Supporting Mpirani Prymary School

The Rotary Club of Malindi is supporting Mpirani Prymary school to improve the learning enviroment of these Angels, through the benevolence of Donald Cruser.

Here is the Feedback:
"The inter-school pupils, the committee and the parents of Mpirani Primary school are sending their great thanks to you Done and the pupils who the contributing little support you send to us the school managed to do some things like the blackboards the desks and one toilet.

we will be great to get more funds from you people over there and this funds will enable us to add more toilets, desks and blackboards to add on this. This school is now having three more class and the children are attending there lessons under trees.

We have already started the construction of three classes, what we need now is the roofing materials. If we will get more money we will be able to buy the roofing materials so that they can get some good rooms for studies because we are now approaching rainy season.

Secondary school scholarship

The Rotary club of Malindi is proud to announce, that six high potentials have been awarded secondary scholarships. The funds were raised in an event, Boda boda ride last year. You can donate a four year scholarship through the rotary club of Malindi and build a better generation.

Malindi Rotary Visit to the Malindi Womens Prison in Mtangani.

Fellow Rotarians,

Following our Wednesday Fellowship where the Plight of Women living in the Prison who had been blessed with babies in the last one month was highlighted...
The Club raised 5,000/- and I shopped for the women for their essentials, plus the babies, knowing very well the condition in the Prison.
The Rotary in Conjunction with Red Cross this morning visited the Womens Prison in Malindi to a welcoming reception and attached are pictures of Our President, Dhanji Naran, Accompanied with Incoming President Noordin and Rotarian Zipporah, Gitonga, Together with Rotarian Majid who doubles up as the Chairman of Red Cross, at the event and the happy inmates who were happy to receive our humble donations.

During the meeting of 2nd September at the Sea View Resort Hotel, we had the visit of Rotarians and friends from Fallbrook, California USA and of our Rotarian friend Winfried from Germany.

Fun & success at the President's Party

Big success at the Dinner for the new President Rtn Dhanji Naran held on Saturday 18th July at the Sea View Resort in Malindi. 120,000Ksh were raised for our bursary education funds that will sponsor bright students from our needy community to go to secondary schools.

More than 130 people enjoyed the evening with good meal and fancy entertainment.

Blessed Generation Children Home were singing for the guests. They performed many songs and when they started to sing the rotary song "Viva la Rotary" everybody joined them enthusiastic.















From Mombasa star singer Nyota Ndogo and her team entertained the guests with a glamorous performance. She invited the children of Blessed Generation and the youth of Rotary (Rotaract Club of Malindi) to join her on the stage.

PRESIDENT DINNER - Saturday 18th July 2009

On Saturday 18th July 2009 at Sea View Resort in Lamu Road, there will be the PRESIDENT DINNER for the induction of the president 2009-2010 of the club Rtn Dhanji Naran

The function will start at 7,30pm, the entrance fee will be 1000/- and will include the dinner, but most important, all funds raised will go to our project to support the needy high school children.

The dinner menu will be:

Bicycle ride to raise fund for our education Bursary fund

The Rotary Club of Malindi, Kenya runs an education bursary fund for children going for secondary school education and that are from poor families or orphans.

At the moment our club sponsors 30 students for their education of 4 years. Each student education for 4 years cost to the club 1,500 euros. The club manages to pay through well wishers and sponsors. Every year the need rises and at the moment we have over 100 applications waiting. We have limited funds for the children already in sponsorship.

Rotary Club of Malindi kindly request you to support this worthy cause and help a needy child. Your kind donation can be yearly or for a full course of 4 years.

Our goal is to raise up 5,000,000 Kenyan Shillings (50,000 euros)

Let's us join hands and make dreams real by saving and educating a less fortunate child.

Rotarians of Malindi donating food

On 27th February and 3rd May 2009, food was distributed by rotarians to 1450 people to Bore Singwaya primary school and Adu location in Malindi District.
Main donation came from Rtn Danji and family members as well as all rotarians of the Rotary Club of Malindi.
Unluckly the rains did not yet come so that urgently more food is needed. Any support from other Rotarians will be highly appreciated.

Asante, Danke Winfried! - Make dreams real - A Christmas Present for Malindi

Last Christmas the family of Rtn Winfried, from Essen Germany, did not get any Christmas presents as they decided the money should go to provide school desks for the children of Malindi.
Mrs Mzungu, the Headmistress, was delighted with the gift.
Rtn Dhanji, Marita,and Heidi were vey happy to see the children clapping and singing when they received the desks.
This has made dreams real.

Celebration at Langobaya on 1st February 2009

Rotary Club of Malindi took the opportunity to introduce to our new rotarians the project at Langobaya, with the induction party of Bilha and Heidi.
Eleven members took a school bus offered by Rtn Kioko and drove over 50 km, a two our drive, to see the project.
The two classrooms and the laboratory were admired by the group. The construction of the buildings were supervised by Rtn. Mustafa of RC Malindi, and were financed by RC of Como and Karibuni onlus (Italy).
Together with the Headmaster and assistant Headmaster of the school, the rotarians, Anns and friends (and some ants) celebrated the occasion with a picnic in the classrooms. Afterwards Kioko and Fester were showing how to play Prosecco volleyball. It was an enjoyable day for everyone.

The visit of Rtn Gianfranco and other visiting rotarians

Today in our club we were very happy to have received the visit of Gianfranco with three more rotarians from Italy plus we received the visit from a rotarian of Nairobi. Here is the all group at the end of the evening meeting.

Rotarians and Rotaractors of Malindi pay a visit to the Children ward at the Malindi District Hospital

Last 12th of December Rotarians and Rotaractors of Malindi, went for the traditional Christmas visit to the children at the district Hospital.

The children ward was decorated and small gifts, milk, and biscuits were given to the children.

After decorating the Christmas tree, Rotarians, rotaractors, visiting guests, parents and children were singing together Christmas songs.

The children were very exited and even the very sick enjoyed the event very much.

Thanks to all the rotarians, rotaractors and friends of rotary for attending function.

DG coast clubs joint party

Last Saturday 14th November, the Rotary Club of Malindi was the most numerous club at the DG party held in Mombasa.

During the party we inducted our new member Heidi Reil, that had the honour to be inducted by the DG Kaushik Manek himself.
